Camping, Retreat and
Time on the Land
What to Expect
Our low-impact campsite operates between April and September. Small Meadow Farm offers a peaceful place to stay, with far-reaching views, open skies, and space to slow down. Camper numbers are kept low, so it never feels crowded — just a beautiful field, two fire pits, and room to breathe.
The farm is 10 minutes from Hastings, close to historic villages and many natural beaches. The Bale House Visitor Centre is a short walk away and offers stunning sea views. In summer, the wooded areas of the farm are filled with hammocks, providing cool, shady retreats, and on clear evenings you can watch the sunset at the end of a long summer day.

"We felt very lucky to be able to stay on Anna’s farm. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with wonderful views. There’s an orchard and some very pretty sheep! We enjoyed the hammocks in the woods and the firepit. Would definitely recommend."

At the moment firewood is included and campers a particularly welcome to gather their own kindling from the woodland floor. If it has been wet and campers are keen to cook at the firepits, it might be recommended to pick up some dry firewood from elsewhere.
-
Answer Campers must bring their own drinking water. This is an off-grid seasonal campsite. There is no mainswater, but there is harvested rainwater available for showers and washing up.
-
There is no wifi but phone signals are generally good. There is the Wood-Wide-Web to connect to instead!

There are lots of great pubs a short drive away. In Pett Village, Hastings, Rye and Fairlight. There are two cafes a short walk away – Coastguard Cafe and The Bale House.
-
No dogs that are not known to the farmer are allowed. This is because there are sheep on site.

"We booked the site for private hire and it was the perfect place for a long weekend with a big group; Anna was a lovely, friendly and responsive host and we enjoyed her recommendations for places to visit in the area. The woodland area with hammocks was a lovely relaxing spot with much welcome shade. Would recommend Hastings old town, Pett Level beach and Rock-a-Nore beach. Thanks again Anna!"
